The Jacob and Terese Hershey Foundation supports educational efforts to promote environmental literacy and comprehension of the complexities of the web of life, particularly in primary and secondary schools, museums, and citizen nonprofit organizations with similar purposes. The Foundation believes strongly in the importance of investing in efforts to expand environmental literacy – to teach future generations (and their teachers) about the environment and the critical environmental issues facing us today. The Foundation funds efforts to (1) develop and/or disseminate evidence-based teacher training and educational programming in environmental literacy for children and youth, (2) expand understanding of nature, conservation principles, and the web of life through high-quality programming in schools and other places, and (3) develop people’s ability to think critically about environmental issues. Letters of intent must be submitted online.

Primarily funds organizations in Texas and southwestern Colorado.
