Special Education Toolkit: Guidance for Charter School Authorizers

Parents of children with special needs live every day with worry, questions, and fear; often feeling powerless about the public education options before them.

Working to ensure the charter sector offers specialized programs, additional supports, and a variety of methods to access curriculum, authorizers can—and should—play a crucial role in helping these families.

NACSA has collaborated with The National Center for Special Education in Charter Schools to create this essential resource. The Special Education Toolkit highlights key decision points within the charter life cycle, from application to renewal, to help authorizers determine whether or not a school has earned the right to continue serving ALL students.
