Improving Science and Vocabulary Learning of English Language Learners

The Center for Research on the Educational Achievement and Teaching of English Language Learners (CREATE) is a National Research and Development Center funded by the Institute of Education Sciences at the U.S. Department of Education. CREATE is conducting a number of rigorous studies to expand the empirical base of research about educating English language learners (ELLs). This brief describes the implementation and impact of a research-based science curriculum that combines high-quality science instruction with effective instructional practices for ELLs.
