This report builds off the 2015 NCSECS analysis of the 2011–2012 Civil Rights Data Collection and represents a key element of their effort to establish and communicate the facts about special education in charter schools. The 2015 report established a baseline of data regarding the extent to which charter schools serve students with disabilities. This, the second of such analyses, examines the status of students with disabilities in charter schools compared to traditional public schools according to enrollment, service provision, and discipline as well as the prevalence and focus of specialized charter schools.
