Charter Management Organizations: Innovations, Opportunities, and Challenges

The National Charter School Resource Center hosted a webinar Oct. 27, 2010 that focused on the findings so far in an extensive research project on the effectiveness of charter school management organizations (CMOs).

Robin Lake, associate director of the Seattle-based Center on Reinventing Public Education (CRPE) and co-author of a report on the interim findings of The National Study of Charter Management Organization Effectiveness, discussed the challenges facing CMOs and answered questions during the webinar.

The study, which began in 2008 and is expected to end in mid-2011, has involved visits to CMO central offices and schools, examining business plans and financial data, as well as interviews with officials.
