SEA Webinar: Early Childhood Learning in Charter Schools

Description

Early Learning programs have emerged as an intervention to the historical and pervasive gap between advantaged and disadvantaged students. This webinar explores early learning charter school programs from the perspective of federal, state, and local frameworks.

The federal perspective is provided by Erin Pfeltz, Charter Schools Program, U.S. Department of Education, who provides guidance on the use of funds to support preschool education. The Office of the State Superintendent of Washington, DC provides understanding of a state education agency's approach to funding, program development, and monitoring practices for early learning programs. AppleTree Institute provides insight into a local education agency approach to high quality pre-k programming using an instructional model called, Every Child Ready. Together, these speakers provide some understanding of what is barriers and highlights of the early learning program within the SEA of Washington D.C.
