In this research report, the Fordham Institute analyzes how charter school enrollment influences broader student achievement trends in the surrounding metroplex. The analysis found that, on average, as the total charter school enrollment in a metropolitan area increased, so too did achievement for economically disadvantaged students, Latino students, and Black students. This increase also corresponded with a narrowing of achievement gaps in mathematics along racial and socioeconomic lines.
